Camera Work:
> Sportscenter Dolly Shot - 1998
This is a camera shot I performed on an episode of "Sportscenter" from 1998. It required me to dolly past the anchor desk as Dan and Kenny each spoke, then continue toward the monitor wall until it appeared full screen. This was done live on air without the benefit of knowing what the anchors would be saying during the shot.
Show Teases:
An opening tease is cut for each episode of "Sportscenter" and "ESPNews" to let viewers know what topics will be covered. Occasionally, I am scheduled to cut that element of the show. The following are examples of teases I have cut for those shows.
> Sportscenter Tease - April 18, 2007
In this tease, the I created graphics for the fourth element to resemble the old style "batman" fight graphics. These were for a section relating to baseball rants.
> Sportscenter Tease - April 4, 2007
For this tease, we needed a clock to key over the first element, but we couldn't find any existing footage in the archives that fit our needs. I used my camcorder to shoot an analog clock I found in another edit room. I was able to erase the brand name from the middle of the face I colorized the hands a bit.
> Sportscenter Tease - Suberbowl 2006
This was a tease cut to open an episode of Sportscenter just prior to Superbowl Sunday.
> Silent Sportscenter Tease - 1998
On this occasion, the tease was not only nearly silent with titles, but mostly black and white, as well. This was quite different from most daily teases, and the anchors had fun with it when they appeared on camera following it. As a result, I included that portion, as well. Note: Due to the compression for the Internet, some of the titles may be harder to read than normal.
Montages:
Occasionally, a montage is cut for use in one show or several. Below are links to some that I have edited.
> NBA Countdown Superbump
This superbump was used to promote that night's NBA game. There is a potion near the end that was voiced over live during the show.
> Kobe Bryant and Lebron James Montage
This montage was cut as part of Sportscenter highlight coverage of the matchup of these two players. Due to the low notes at the beginning, which may not be audible with some computer speakers, you may wish to listen with headphones.
> Reds MLB Montage
This montage was cut for Baseball Tonight in 1999.
Features:
Over the years, I have edited several longer features for various ESPN shows. Here are a few samples.
> Chad Bentz Feature
This piece profiles Chad Bentz, a baseball player born with only one hand who is looking to make it to the pros. Length: 1m:58s
> Thanksgiving Moments Piece
This piece profiles famous NFL moments that took place in games played on various Thanksgivings. I originally cut this feature in 2004, but the production department felt it still held up and aired it again in 2005. Both times, it made its way around shows on various ESPN networks. 2m:54s
